Winning numbers finally drawn for record-breaking $2 billion Powerball jackpot

UPDATE: According to the California Lottery, the winning Powerball ticket was sold to one person in Altadena, Los Angeles County, at Joe’s Service Center.

The lucky ticket holder matched all six numbers, and will become the first person to become a billionaire through the lottery.

So if you bought a ticket in Altadena, be sure to check your ticket — if not, better luck in the next billion-dollar lotto.

America has had lottery fever recently, with a whopping jackpot of over $2 billion — the largest prize in US lottery history — up for grabs. Countless people have bought tickets in the hopes that they will be the lucky winner.

Now, after a delay, it’s time to check your tickets: the winning numbers have finally been announced, and could change someone’s life forever.

The Powerball jackpot currently stands at $2.04 billion, surpassing the previous all-time US lottery jackpot by over $400 million. Only four jackpots have ever been over a billion dollars.

There hasn’t been a Powerball winner since August 3, so the jackpot has just kept growing over the past few months — generating intense anticipation about who the eventual winner will be.

But eager lottery players had to wait a bit longer to check their numbers: Powerball released a statement saying that the drawing originally scheduled for Monday November 7 had been delayed, saying that one of their participating lotteries needed “extra time to complete the required security protocols.”

This morning, the numbers were finally drawn, and people across the country are no doubt reaching for their tickets to see if they’re a billionaire.

The lucky numbers: 10, 33, 41, 47 and 56, with another 10 as the Powerball.

It has yet to be seen if anyone has the numbers, but if so they’re about to be among the top richest people in the world.

The previous record holder was a Powerball jackpot that reached $1.59 billion and was split between three winners.

The eventual winner or winners will have a choice of getting the full jackpot amount through an annual annuity, or receiving a smaller cash lump sum up front.

Either way, the winner will surely be set for life.
