King Charles is set to visit the White House in a few days. But meeting his estranged son, Prince Harry, when traveling to the U.S is not on the schedule. However, an insider has now revealed there is one person who might want to act as a ‘peace negotiator’ between the prince and king: Donald Trump.
King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at Buckingham Palace last year. The decision to welcome the couple to the U.K, mainly due to the Epstein Files investigation, was met with many furious comments. But it appears as if the meeting was a success.
Earlier this year, King Charles and Queen Camilla accepted an invitation to the White House in late April as a part of celebrating the U.S 250th Anniversary.
The trip to the US has been expected for quite some time. However, as the state visit is carried out on behalf of the UK government and an official announcement of the schedule has been delayed, most likely until tensions over the Iran war have eased, the BBC reported.
Donald Trump is known to adore the Royal Family and the ‘mystery’ of the monarchy. Therefore, one can imagine the visit won’t be short on tradition and spectacle either.
Plans include a charming garden party, a grand ceremonial military review, and a lavish state dinner at the White House, all of which add to the sense that this is far more than just a routine diplomatic gathering.
King Charles and Queen Camilla to visit Donald Trump at the White House
First Lady Melania Trump and Queen Camilla are also expected to meet separately. During Trump’s visit to the UK last year, Melania appeared with Kate MIddleton meeting with children. The Princess of Wales will not join the king and queen in the U.S.
King Charles and Queen Camilla’s upcoming trip will be the first royal state visit to the U.S since Queen Elizabeth visited in 2007. At that time, Barack Obama was the president.
Donald Trump announced through social media that the U.S visit will be between April 27 and 30. A “a beautiful Banquet Dinner at the White House on the evening of April 28th” will be arranged, the president said, adding that he and First Lady Melania Trump “look forward to spending time with the King, whom I greatly respect.” He concluded that it will be “TERRIFIC.”
But while the visit might be “terrific,” one royal expert has now brought up some quite concerning words. On Tuesday, April 21, Queen Elizabeth II would have turned 100, and the celebration was held at Buckingham Palace.
Donald Trump wants to arrange “peace moment” between King Charles and Prince Harry
While Donald Trump and King Charles appear to be great friends, the same can’t be said of the U.S. President and another, now former, member of the Royal Family.
Trump has lashed out at Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, several times, and it’s well known that the estranged Duke of Sussex, who now lives in California, has a complicated relationship with his family amid his and his wife’s 2020 royal exit.
King Charles has reportedly no intention of traveling to California to meet his estranged son, daughter-in-law, and his two grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Still, it appears that one person wants to take on the role of “peace maker” in Donald Trump.
A source told Radar Online, “There’s real talk of framing this as a ‘peace moment.’ Trump wants to be seen as the guy who brings everyone together – whether it works or not.”
Further, another insider suggested that President Donald Trump could see the opportunity to steal the spotlight.
“Trump is the ultimate showman,” an insider said. “If there’s a chance to turn diplomacy into must-watch TV, he’ll take it every time. Sometimes just putting the idea out there is the move. And no one trolls the room – or the world – better than Trump.”
