New details on Kate Middleton’s recovery after cancer diagnosis comes to light – royal expert makes summer prediction

Kate Middleton is continuing her recovery after being diagnosed with cancer in February. The Princess of Wales made a stunning royal comeback during Trooping the Colour. However, this summer will be different from others. While she might have made her first royal appearance after the cancer diagnosis, it’s unknown how much she will be seen in public in the coming months.

The princess has endured a challenging period, including her husband, Prince William, and her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The three young royals reportedly didn’t get to visit their mother. At the same time, she recovered from her abdominal surgery in January and received a cancer diagnosis, which has certainly affected her children as well.

Things are on their way to returning to normal for the Prince and Princess of Wales. Soon, their children will be off for the summer break, and the family may spend much time in their country house of Anmer Hall. Now, a royal expert has given a new verdict on Kate’s health – and depending on what happens next, it will tell us a lot about her princess’ status.

Being away from one’s children is never easy, but the opposite also goes. Sadly, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis had to endure that very tough experience in January, as their mother, Kate Middleton, stayed at a hospital for 13 days following her abdominal surgery.

Kate Middleton ‘didn’t allow’ her children to visit her at the hospital

At first, reports stated that George, Charlotte, and Louis had visited their mother at the hospital, even though no pictures of them arriving had reached the media. However, the opposite was reported later: The royal kids hadn’t been at their mother’s side at the hospital once.

Instead, Kate used her phone to talk to – and see – her children. According to Hello Magazine’s royal editor, Emily Nash, the Princess of Wales has used her phone to call her children via FaceTime.

While Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have school and most likely other activities after school, it’s hard to imagine that the reason why they didn’t visit would’ve been because of a tight schedule.

George, Charlotte, and Louis certainly wanted to visit their mother. But it appears that it was Kate – and the hospital – that said no.

Royal expert and biographer Ingrid Seward claimed that the Princess of Wales chose not to have her children visit her at The London Clinic. Speaking to People Magazine, she claimed it wasn’t about her not wanting to see them but rather about her wanting to respect other patients.

“I don’t think she wanted to make more of a big thing of it than it already was. They’ll be rallying ’round in their own way and helping to look after her,” Ingrid Seward told People.

George, Charlotte & Louis surprised their mother with her “favourite snacks”

Meanwhile, other factors could have contributed to Kate’s decision. As Kate is a royal family member, the hospital would indeed have allowed George, Charlotte, and Louis to visit her if she had asked for it.

January 29, 13 days following her abdominal surgery, was a day of joy as Kate was finally discharged from The London Clinic and returned to her home, Adelaide Cottage, where she continued her recovery.

The princess finally got to see her children, and it’s said she got quite a welcome from George, Charlotte, and Louis. US Magazine reported that while they didn’t visit their mother at the hospital, the three children have been very hands-on since she returned home.

A source told the news outlet: “They’ve all made her some ‘get well soon’ cards along with some of her favourite snacks.”

Per the initial statement, she would not return to royal duty until after Easter. But today, we know that didn’t happen.

In mid-March, Kate Middleton revealed the shocking news that she had been diagnosed with cancer. She said it had “taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.”

Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were said to have been told about their mother’s cancer diagnosis in February.

How Kate MIddleton broke the news of her cancer to her children

Kate and her husband wanted to protect their children as much as possible when the news was made public. Therefore, the announcement made on March 22 at 6 pm GMT was not a coincidence.

According to the Telegraph, the cancer announcement video was released just a few hours after their children’s school had closed so their friends wouldn’t immediately ask questions about it. At that point, they had gotten the news.

“George is ten now and can’t be shielded from any of this now,” a palace source told the Telegraph. “Once it’s at the school gate and in the school playground, he won’t be able to avoid it.”

Speaking with The Post, King Charles’ former butler Grant Harrold said that the couple most likely “sugarcoated” her health issues when they broke the news to Prince Louis.

“I’m sure it was a very difficult and very different conversation between children,” Grant Harrold told the NY Post. “For instance, for Louis, I’m sure the conversation was more sugarcoated than it was with George and Charlotte.”

The former butler continued, “The older children can understand more, so I’d imagine it was a little more frank but undoubtedly staying positive, which is so important.”

“That’s why when you now look at the picture of Kate with her three children, it brings a tear to your eye. For any mother to have that conversation is huge and you can imagine Charlotte and George are going to be good supports for her.”

“Things are looking up”

Kate Middleton is now doing better. She made her royal comeback during Trooping the Colour to give royal fans great joy. Although she said she was making “good progress,” when announcing the news in mid-June, the princess added that “there are good days and bad days” because of the chemotherapy.

Prince William has taken on a considerable responsibility for their children since Kate Middleton first underwent her abdominal surgery. Just some days ago, he brought his daughter, Charlotte, and eldest son, Prince George, to Taylor Swift’s concert in London, and they even got to meet the superstar herself.

As they have gone through a very challenging period with their mom being sick, getting to experience a concert such as Taylor Swift’s was exactly what the two young royal children needed.

Newsweek chief royal correspondent Jack Royston said it was a significant moment for Charlotte.

“It’s been a really, really tough six months for the Wales family, but it does seem like things are looking up. And so as spring has come in Britain and the flowers are in bloom, they too have kind of come out of the darkness, and here they are living their best lives, having a great time,” Royston said.

“There was something I thought looking at all the social media of them at the concert because they posed for pictures with Taylor and with Travis; and actually, there was one picture that was taken by Williams team, but there was also one that Taylor took herself, and she posted it.”

Royal expert gives new verdict on Kate Middleton’s recovery

Jack Royston added, “Obviously, they all got millions and millions and millions of views, and it just really felt like William made Charlotte’s dream come true.”

Summer is approaching, and Prince George, Princess Charlotte , and Prince Louis will soon begin their summer holidays. It will be a necessary break from all that has happened to the family in recent months, but how they will spend the summer is not yet known.

However, according to royal expert Jennie Bond, the summer plans will give royal fans a huge hint into Kate Middleton’s recovery.

Speaking with OK!, Bond predicted that depending on how well the Princess of Wales is doing, they might even travel abroad.

“If Catherine’s medical condition allows, they will perhaps have a few days in the Scilly Isles – which is one of their ‘go-to places’ where they are pretty much left alone to enjoy the beaches and countryside during precious family time,” Jennie Bond said.

“But if her treatment means she has to stay closer to home, they’ll love hunkering down at Anmer Hall – perhaps with some of the cousins and family visiting them there.”

She added, “Ever since her diagnosis, their absolute priority has been to keep life with their children as normal as possible. So, having their cousins from both sides of the family around will be exciting for the children.”
