7-year-old Filip has passed away – and now his last wish will be fulfilled

Filip was a little boy who battled cancer from the time he was two years old until he passed away in London last Friday.

Before he left this world, Filip had only one wish. He wanted to be buried next his mother in her casket.

In an interview with The Mirror, Filip’s father, Piotr, shared one of the last conversations he had with his son.

“He said that I’m his angel that is looking after him here and that his mum will look after him when he is in heaven,” Piotr said.

When Filip was two years old, he was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, a disease that causes tumors to gow in nerves. Then last year, the boy learned that he also had leukemia. But in spite of months of chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, the boy’s doctors were unable to save him.

Finally, doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London gave Filip palliative care and concentrated on relieving him of pain as much as possible in the final stages of life.

Filip’s case has received considerable attention in the UK because of his wish to be buried next to his mother, Agnieszka, in her coffin. Filip’s mom died of cancer at the age of 33 when Filip was just two years old. She was buried in Poland, and the cost to ship Filip’s body there is too much for Filip’s father, Piotr, who is on disability due to a back injury and diabetes. So Piotr decided to start a fund online, hoping to get some help paying for his son’s last wish.

The goal was to collect £6,500 ($8,000). But just hours after Piotr started his campaign, the fund reached £23,000 ($28,500.) Piotr is in shock over all the help he has received from the public.

Before he left, Filip shared a message from his hospital bed.

“Thanks for helping make my wish come true,” the little boy said, according to The Mirror.

Filip passed away last Friday at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, England.

Rest in peace, Filip ❤️
