Dad’s powerful story about his ex has a message every parent needs to hear

When parents of young children separate, it’s incredibly difficult. But it’s important for them to try to remain civil, because arguing can negatively affect children. And just because things didn’t work out doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be healthy and happy. After all, they still have to raise their child together.

That was exactly what a guy named Brandon was thinking when his ex-wife asked him to buy some medicine for their daughter.

But while he was putting the medicine in his ex’s fridge, he saw something that made him get out of there as quickly as he could— before coming back later the same day with something completely different.

Brandon Carpenter is the father of a beautiful little daughter. He no longer lives with his daughter’s mother, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still care about her. He’s trying to take care of both of them the best way he can. And it shows.

Recently when his ex-wife asked him to buy medicine for their daughter, Brandon saw something in her refrigerator that shocked him. And it prompted him to write a powerful post on Facebook that has now been praised by hundreds of thousands of people.

When Brandon looked in his ex’s fridge, it was empty besides some water. He was shocked. But his ex’s pantry looked completely different. It was full of baby formula, snacks, and water for their daughter.

Brandon didn’t know what to think. But the moment he closed the refrigerator door, he knew what he needed to do.

“She works a full time job and then has my daughter. She pays rent and all her bills plus she is paying off a car. So today I went shopping to make sure she had food for the next few weeks. Just because we aren’t together doesn’t mean I can’t provide for her if she needs it,” Brandon wrote on Facebook.

“If my child’s mother is good then I know she is taking care of our daughter the best she can and that makes me happy.”

“Some of y’all think I’m only going to provide for my child, but that’s thinking like a child. It’s time to grow up and take responsibility in all aspects of life!” Brandon concludes in his Facebook post.

The post has been shared more than 160,000 times and many people have written and praised him for his fine gesture toward the mother of his child.

Arguments come up in every relationship. But regardless, it’s always important to remain civil, especially when there’s a child involved. Brandon’s fine conduct is really something that every parent can take after—I know that I will.
