Kindergarten kids sing Happy Birthday with sign language for their deaf custodian

Is there anything more adorable than a group of children engaged in some kind of performance?

But some performances are, admittedly, more adorable — and certainly more meaningful — than others. Here’s one simply fantastic example that goes straight to the heart.

Does it get any better than this?

A kindergarten class from Hickerson Elementary in Nashville, Kentucky gathered together one day in preparation for their big performance. It was one they had been practicing and anticipating for some time.

That’s because their beloved school custodian, Mr. James, was turning 60. Mr. James has worked at the school for 15 years and has been with the school district for 30 years. And — Mr. James happens to be deaf.

The children had one goal — to wish him a happy birthday. But naturally, this had to be done in sign language.

Needless to say, the children are absolutely adorable — and Mr. James’ reaction, just priceless. Just have a look for yourself  below, and prepare for some serious heartmelt.

Such an incredible lesson for children to learn that has so many dimensions to it! I am so impressed with this school’s initiative, with the children’s huge hearts and so happy for Mr. James who clearly was surprised and enjoyed every last second. Share if this warmed your heart, too!
