The worst nightmare for any parent is losing their kid suddenly without any explanation. This heartbroken mom had to deal with losing her daughter and having no clue about her whereabouts…
16-year-old Kiely Rodni went to a party at the Prosser Family Campground in Northern California on a Friday night. The party apparently had about 200 to 300 teenagers in attendance.
Kiely’s parents were used to their daughter going out and being responsible. So when her mom Lindsey Rodni-Nieman, got a message from her daughter saying she would be home in 45 minutes, she assumed she would see her soon.
Lindsey later opened up about the rest of the text exchange sharing they had exchanged affection, “I told her to be safe and that I loved her. And she said, ‘OK, mom, I love you, too.'”
The next morning when she woke up, she was surprised to see her daughter was not home and her car was missing as well. Immediately, she knew something was wrong.
“I called [Kiely] and sent her texts, too, and she didn’t answer. That’s when I knew something was wrong,” she recalls.
Her mother noticed all of Kiely’s belongings were still at home and knew in her heart that had her daughter seen the worried text messages and calls, she would immediately let her mom know she was okay.
Her daughter’s friend Sami Smith who was with her at the party was not able to wrap their head around the situation. She recalled seeing Kiely enjoying the party the night before.
She said the night was a typical one for them and that she drank all the drinks her friend had and could not point her finger to anything being amiss.
Kiely was last seen at 12:30 a.m. on the night of the party, according to the official report by Placer County Sheriff’s Office. She was not seen by anyone after the party and she along with her silver 2013 Honda CRV, seemed to have disappeared into thin air.
They urged anyone with any information to come forward and received over 200 tips. Because the teenagers car was missing as well, officials did not want to classify the case as an abduction.
Angela Musallam, public information officer for Placer County told the media that Kiely’s phone was disconnected soon after she was thought to have gone missing. The last area her phone was detected was combed by police inch by inch.
A $50,000 reward was announced for any information that led to finding the teenage girl.
Her mother, Lindsey also posted an emotional video on Facebook urging her daughter to come home, telling her she wanted nothing more than to hear her say she loved her again. In the video, she is hopeful her daughter will get back to her safe.
Unfortunately, about a week ago a body was discovered inside a car in a Northern California reservoir. Authorities are unsure how Kiely and her car ended up in the reservoir and an investigation is underway into the circumstances.
A group called Adventures With Purpose, who make YouTube videos was the ones who found the car and Kiely’s remains. Authorities said while the water body had been searched by them, they did not have the same expertise and equipment as the professional diving group.
Kiely’s family is devastated at the loss and is requesting privacy at this trying time for their family as they mourn their loss. On the GoFundMe page set up for Kiely’s family, they thanked everyone who helped them along the way.
