It was a normal Monday evening when panic broke out in the Folsom community. Two young sisters had gone missing along with their pet golden retriever. The girls had last been seen around 5 p.m. on the same day.

7-year-old Abigail Bourg and 4-year-old Cecilia Bourg had been spotted near their home along with their dog before things took a turn. Their parents realized that the girls were missing and immediately raised alarm.

A search was quickly organized for the young girls and their dog. Their mother made a worried Facebook post which went viral in the area and people began volunteering to go out and look for the little girls.

The St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office issued a statement asking local citizens not to venture into the forest as they would risk impeding the official investigation for the little girls.

Luckily the girls were found soon after around 9:20 p.m. on the same day they went missing!

“We do not have any details to release at this time, but we are very happy to say both girls and their dog have been located and are safe,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media update posted soon after the girls had been located safe and sound. “Thank you to everyone who helped, especially Louisiana State Police and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for the use of their helicopters!”

After the girls had been found, people were relieved and thankful for their safe return home. Understandably, those who were the most relieved were of course the girls’ parents!

There had been a lot of effort deployed to locate the girls, the STPSO said it had deployed a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office helicopter, as well as drones, ATVs, and their K9 units for the search!

The moment the girls met their relieved parents was captured on camera. The relief is very much evident on the faces of their worried parents!

We are so happy that this story had a happy ending! Sending these parents and their little girls, and dog our best wishes for their safety and health!
