Don Lemon terminated from CNN: ‘I am stunned’

Don Lemon says he has been fired from CNN.

Lemon reportedly learned of his termination from his agent.

“I am stunned,” he wrote on Twitter. “After 17 years at CNN I would have thought someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly.”

“At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play.”

Lemon joined CNN in 2006 after anchoring NBC Chicago and working as a correspondent for NBC News.

During his time on CNN he was known for criticizing cable news as well as voicing his strong opinions.

Recently he came under fire for comments he made on-air about former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley after she announced her candidacy for president in the 2024 run.

During an episode of CNN This Morning he stated she “isn’t in her prime.”

“When a woman is considered to be in her prime — in her 20s, 30s and maybe her 40s.”

His comments prompted swift backlash.

In response to Lemon’s tweet about his termination from CNN, the cable news network issued a statement saying the two “have parted ways.”

“Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years,” CNN said in a statement. “We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”
