Like most Full House fans, John Stamos was just as annoyed with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for not appearing on the 2016 Netflix reboot, Fuller House.
“When I did ‘Fuller House,’ they didn’t want to come back and I was angry for a minute and that got out,” he explained on a recent episode of “And That’s What You REALLY Missed” podcast.
The 59-year-old actor and father said that while he was initially angry with the Olsen twins, former co-star Lori Loughlin helped him understand their decision not to return.
Stamos said when he first learned about the twins’ decision, his emotions got the best of him in the beginning, “but they said, ‘We loved you guys, we loved our childhood. We loved being with you. We miss Bob.’ They came over to my house and they brought a pork chop and sage.”
Despite previously stating he “couldn’t deal” with the Olsen twins when they were toddlers, Stamos reportedly said he was “heartbroken” upon learning Mary-Kate and Ashley would be the only ones not reprising their roles on Fuller House.
But, for the twins, acting was a thing of the past.
Lori Loughlin, Stamos’ co-star, explained how the Olsen twins had moved on and created a successful business in the fashion industry.
“I remember Lori saying to me, ‘It’s like, they won two or three CFDA Awards. That’s like winning two or three Oscars. If you won three Oscars, would you come back and do this?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, maybe not.’”
Although recent news makes it seems as if their relationship has been rocky over the years, Stamos continues to share throwback photos of himself and the girls, including a never-before-seen clip dated August 1989.
The girls appear to be hanging out in Stamos’ dressing room prior to taping the third season of Full House. Stamos attempts to get them to say his name, but they can’t seem to grasp his real identity.
I also wish the Olsen twins appeared in the Full House reboot, but I get it. They have moved on from acting so us fans and their co-stars need to respect their decision.
