All is not well between Kevin Costner and his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner. That much has been made abundantly clear over the past few weeks following the former’s shock divorce filing in early May.
According to reports, Costner was blindsided by his wife’s decision to begin divorce proceedings, and it would appear that the whole sorry saga has continued to spiral downwards from there.
Last week it was reported that Baumgartner was refusing to leave the couple’s $145 million home despite the terms outlined in their long-standing prenup. The document is said to have stated that in the event of filing for a divorce, Baumgartner had 30 days to vacate. Since she filed on May 1, she’s technically outstayed her welcome.
News of Kevin and Christine’s divorce came out of the blue earlier this year, amidst reports that Costner was to leave popular show Yellowstone. In early May, Christinefiled divorce papers, citing “irreconcilable differences”. The pair had been married for 18 years.
A representative for Costner released a statement reading: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.
“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
Costner and Baumgartner married in 2004. The couple have three kids together: sons Cayden, 15, and Hayes, 14, and daughter Grace, 12.
As per TMZ, iconic actor Costner has allegedly given his ex-partner well over a million dollars in order for her to find a new home.
Following the aforesaid reports circulating in the media that Baumgartner is refusing the move out of the property she shares with Costner, the 49-year-old herself has commented via her attorney, John Rydell.
As per court documents obtained by Insider, Rydell claims Costner’s attempt to get Baumgartner to move out won’t work, as the pair shared a family.
Rydell said Costner’s request “seeks to kick Christine and their three children out of the house that the children have lived in for their entire lives.”
The attorney added: “Although the legal basis for Kevin’s request to kick his wife and children out of their home is all but nonexistent, this is still a matter of critical importance for Christine.”
Separate documents uncovered by TMZ reportedly allege that Baumgartner, a former model, is refusing to leave the home with a view to forcing Costner to agree to “various financial demands”.
