Funnyman Jonah Hill has been trending on Twitter after his ex Sarah Brady accused him of being a “narcissistic misogynist”.
The 25-year-old took to social media to post screenshots of previously unseen text exchanges between herself and Hill, 39.
In her scathing posts, Brady – who is currently a law student – dragged her former flame and accused him of emotionally manipulating her during their brief relationship, which apparently lasted from late 2021 to early 2022.
While Brady doesn’t explicitly refer to the Superbad actor by name, several of the screenshots do show her engaging in text conversations with a person named ‘Jonah’… So, naturally, most of us did the math and put two and two together.
In those text messages, Hill appears to be constantly frustrated or annoyed that Brady posts photos of herself on Instagram that he deems inappropriate. Though, for Brady, who is also a professional surfer, most of these images involve her wearing swimwear – something Hill apparently believes are in breach of his “boundaries” and are “triggering” to him.
In one particular exchange, Hill seems to have texted Brady after going through her Instagram account and told her which images he would like removed.
In another conversation, Brady messages her friend to tell them that her and Hill’s couple’s therapist at the time made her “agree to paddle away from any man that approached me in the water, no matter his age.” She then adds that the therapist told her to also say: “I’m going to go talk to my boyfriend,” and then paddle away.
Brady also tells her friend that it was “kind of unbelieveable” that Hill, who would initially compliment her on her surfing images, “would then be upset I didn’t read his mind and take down pics” that he thought were inappropriate once she was romantically involved with him.
Another screenshot shows Hill branding himself “the best boyfriend on Earth” after instructing his ex-girlfriend to “say hello and leave the convo” if a man approaches her. He also texted Brady a list of ‘rules’ he wanted her to follow, which included no modeling, no bathing suit pictures, and “surfing with men”.
Following Hill and Brady’s separation, Hill moved on with new girlfriend Olivia Millar, and the pair welcomed their first child together in May (though the newborn’s sex and name have not yet been revealed). Though, Brady had some thoughts on this, saying that she hoped her ex has a daughter, so that he can learn to become a true feminist.
She also added that she believes the fact Hill “calls himself a feminist now is laughable.”
Unsurprisingly, the screenshots went viral online, with hundreds of ferocious Twitter users branding the War Dogs actor “toxic”.
“also, about the jonah hill situation, idc if you want to call it abusive, but his actions, trying to retrict his partners life to minimize his insecurities, taking her to couples counseling over it for months, and then constantly talking down to her about it, yeah that’s toxic [sic],” one person wrote.
A further user added: “Jonah Hill asking his surfer girlfriend not to surf with men and not post pictures in a swimsuit is NOT setting boundaries. It’s controlling, toxic behavior. Imagine a woman dating a chef and telling him he can’t cook with women in the kitchen or post pics in his chef’s coat.”
So far, Hill has not responded to Brady’s claims of emotional abuse, but has released merchandise emblazoned with the slogan “Complete Unrelenting Control” under his new streetwear brand Meaningful Existence, Page Six detailed.
The questionable tagline, “Complete Unrelenting Control”, appears on “emotional baggage” tote bags (which are selling for $30) as well as on shirts, hats and “foot hugger” socks.
As for Brady, she recently re-uploaded an image to Instagram from 2017 –long before her relationship with Hill – that the actor apparently asked her to delete, captioning it with: “Reviving a pic I took down by request of a narcissistic misogynist.”
She said that she decided to post the screenshots of her private exchanges with Hill because, according to her: “Keeping it to [herself] was causing more damage to [her] mental health than sharing it could ever do.” Brady did add, however, that Hill’s behavior didn’t make him a “terrible person.”
