Disney Channel star Raven-Symoné reveals she suffered a seizure after underage plastic surgery

Raven-Symoné had plastic surgery when she was a teenager so people would stop calling her fat.

The former Disney Channel actress shared the revelation during a recent episode of her Best Podcast Ever show. In a conversation with her wife and co-host, Miranda Maday, the 37-year-old admitted she “had two breast reductions and lipo” before the age of 18.

Raven got her start appearing on The Cosby Show before appearing on her own show, That’s So Raven, on the Disney Channel.

“There was paperwork involved,” she said.

She added that it was her father who “strongly” suggested she get surgery to reduce the size of her breasts.

“He was like, ‘So you don’t feel bad, is there anything you want?’ I was like, ‘What? Yeah, if I get lipo, will people stop calling me fat?’ So, I got a twofer.”

Although she suffered from back pain prior to the procedures, the surgeries themselves and the recovery were no walk in the park.

“It was just a mess, just being that young and the pain of it all,” she recalled.

Raven remembered waking up from the first surgery and experiencing a medical scare.

“That first one that I had, I actually had a seizure when I woke up from the surgery. I remember waking up and seeing everything. I was like, nah. I started to have this dry mouth and couldn’t breathe, and then [I woke up] they were like they were like, ‘You had a seizure.'”

She went on to say that even after the surgery, which she admits was likely needed for comfort, she still faced criticism.

“Shirts fit well, but even though I got the breast reduction, nobody knew at that age, and I still got reamed through social media because I wasn’t as skinny as everybody else and they still called me fat,” Raven said. “So, it’s like, you get that done and it’s still not what everybody wanted to see.”
