‘Tan Mom’ Patricia Krentcil announces run for United States Senate in Florida

Tan Mom, legally known as Patricia Krentcil, is back in the news again.

And with any luck it won’t be the last time we hear her name because Krentcil has filed paperwork to officially run for a seat in the United States Senate.

TMZ, which first reported the news, stated she filed as a Republican and will be going up against incumbent Senator Rick Scott.

Her campaign comes on the heels of her recent reality show, Tan to 10, which she referred to as an “extreme life makeover.”

“After filming a life-changing docuseries called Tan to 10, Patricia went out in the streets of Florida and came face-to-face with the heartbreaking issues affecting so many here,” her campaign site reads. “From the attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, equality, diversity, and beyond, Patricia is a champion for those who are underserved, and underheard. As a lover of the outdoors — and yes she advocates for using a high SPF these days — she also is champion for the environment.”

“I want to use my power of fame, and personal struggles, to bring awareness of the need for equality and diversity, especially in a time when our nation is in such a crisis,” she added.

The infamous mother of five first made headlines in 2012 when she was accused of bringing her five-year-old daughter to a New Jersey tanning salon. In 2013 a grand jury decided not to indict her for child endangerment.

Since she was accused of exposing her young daughter to harmful UV light, Krentcil said she has turned her life around, though the incident has bothered her “every day for the past 10 years.”

“I’m a totally different person today — I changed my whole attitude on life. I’ve turned my life around,” she told Insider. “I don’t get disrespected anymore. I don’t party or do any crazy things.”
