If you order from DoorDash anytime soon you’ll be greeted by a popup warning users to expect a longer delivery time if they choose not to tip their driver.
The food delivery service announced the new pilot program which has ignited a debate online.
Dashers are able to see which orders include a tip and if none is included it’s possible it might take longer for the order to be picked up.
“Dashers have full freedom to accept or reject offers based on what they view as valuable and rewarding,” the company said in a statement to People.
“This reminder screen is something that we’re currently testing to help create the best possible experience for all members of our community,” DoorDash spokesperson Jenn Rosenberg said. “As with anything we pilot, we look forward to closely analyzing the results and feedback.”
This isn’t the first time tipping has ignited a debate online, and it definitely won’t be the last.
Will this pilot program change the way you order on food delivery apps?
