CNN anchor reveals death of husband in gut-wrenching Instagram post

Alisyn Camerota, CNN anchor and political commentator, announced the death of her husband, Tim Lewis, on Friday. Lewis, 58, died in late July, after a two-year battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

“I cannot imagine any human being soldiering through a devastating diagnosis with more humor, humility and bravery than Tim. He was a phenomenal father, husband, friend and role model and the rest of us are left trying to follow in his footsteps,” she wrote.

Camerota, 58, revealed her “beloved and extraordinary husband” died July 27, two months before the couple would have celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary.

“I feel incredibly lucky to have had such a deep, committed, loving partnership for the time we had,” she wrote alongside a photo from the couple’s wedding.

The CNN anchor said she and her three children, twin daughters Ale and Cessa, and son Nate, who she shared with her husband, “are still getting our bearings” following Tim’s death.

“Tim imbued us with a lot of strength and stability and we’re determined to try to emulate those qualities of his.”

According to his obituary, Tim enjoyed giving back to his community, so in his remembrance his family set up a fund “to help other families enduring a similar struggle.”

“I plan to write more in the coming days and to be back at work in the next few weeks. Thank you all for your love and letters, trays of lasagna, and the many, many gestures of kindness. I am grateful.”

Rest in peace, Tim, and may your family find comfort in the coming months.
