A woman living in Wales was subjected to a bizarre experience of home invasion that she could not make much sense of. She lived in fear for weeks as she did not know what the incident meant for her safety.

She finally breathed a sigh of relief when the culprit was arrested. It was 36-year-old Damian Wojnilowicz who had allegedly broken into her home in Monmouthshire in July of this year. He was sentenced to 22 months in prison for this act and one other.

The burglar, apart from breaking into the woman’s home, did some things which were unexpected to say the least. He hung out the victim’s laundry, opened up a wine bottle, and cooked a meal in her kitchen, using her ingredients.

The woman returned to her home to see that someone had hung her laundry out and had made a meal in her kitchen with her groceries.

She also noticed that items in her garden had been moved around.

After she entered her home, she discovered more things out of place. She noticed someone had also replaced the toothbrush heads on her electric toothbrush.

Items from grocery bags had been placed in the fridge and her recycling had been emptied. The brand new utensils that had been taken out of their shopping bags and the old ones had been thrown away. Someone seemed to have also mopped the floor as a mop and bucket were left outside.

A bowl of sweets had been left on her table next to a bottle of red wine, a bottle opened, and a glass.

36-year-old Damian Wojnilowicz pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary in July. The woman’s neighbor also recalled someone hanging out her laundry on the line.

“Two weeks after the crime until he was caught, I was living in a state of heightened anxiety I had never experienced before,” the woman in a statement acquired by the BBC.

“I was too scared to stay in my own home and stayed with a friend,” the woman said.

“I wondered if it was somebody who knew me, if it was going to turn into a stalking incident, if he knew I lived alone and if I had been targeted,” she went on to explain. “I was too scared to stay in my own home and stayed with a friend.”

Damian was also accused of breaking into another home in the same month. On July 29, the other homeowner got a CCTV alerting him that someone had been walking on his driveway.

During the second incident, the burglar had allegedly used the man’s hot tub and also used his shower to wash his clothes. He was caught red-handed by the homeowner’s son-in-law who arrived to find him with a drink in hand and intoxicated at his father-in-law’s house.

The second victim shared they felt “sick, horrified, and useless” after what happened.

He pleaded guilty to both counts of burglary and was give a sentence for 22 months at Cardiff Crown Court on October 3.

“This was a significant intrusion in their homes,” Christian Jowett stated as the sentence was doled out.

Tabitha Walker, the lawyer representing the intruder, said Damian was a homeless person and had been going through a tough time when both these incidents took place.
