Motorsports park shuts down after 9-year-old star died in ‘freak accident’

The California motorsports park where 9-year-old Brooke Carlton died in a “freak accident” earlier this year has been forced to permanently close in the midst of the legal fight over her death.

Back in June budding star Brooke suffered fatal injuries while riding at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in Lake Elsinore, California when a child riding another bike crashed into her.

In the aftermath of the tragic incident the park was sued. A recent update from the park confirmed that they had been forced to close after the owner of the property – who has found themselves dragged into the litigation – kicked them off the land.

In a statement on Facebook, the page wrote: “It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of LEMX. Due to a lawsuit from a tragic accident that occurred in June, the property owner has terminated our agreement as they are being brought into it as well.”

“It would be in their best interest to have the track closed. I can’t say as I blame them,” the post added.

The closure of the park follows the heartbreaking death of the aforementioned Brooke, a 9-year-old girl who collided with another rider on June 4. Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported that Brooke was gravely injured during the accident, which saw the girl thrown off her bike and left unconscious on the ground.

Bystanders gave her CPR until paramedics were able to transport her to a hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries. The other child in question escaped with only minor injuries.

“We are truly sad about the situation. This was such a freak accident as the parent said,” Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park said in an Instagram post after Carlton’s death.

“This is not a time to bash the track but a time to remember this little girl and support her family. We are a community and we will do our part in supporting the family as well.”

Brooke’s parents, Jason and Angie, wrote a heartfelt message on a fundraising page that read: “Yesterday the good Lord called our dear Brooke Lily to heaven after a freak accident at a local motocross track. Our entire family is still trying to understand why our Brookie, but we firmly believe that God needed her and called her home to be with him.”

Rest in peace, Brooke Carlton.
