As the results of the 2024 presidential election began to sink in, Americans and the rest of the world started to come to grips with the reality that Donald Trump would once again be president of the United States.
For some it was a relief, and for others it was an absolute nightmare.
Christina Applegate did not waste time letting her followers know her disappointment with the results of the race.
After urging her fans to vote for “the women you love,” “the kids you love,” and “the disabled people you love,” the Dead to Me star took to X to express her anger with the 72 million people who voted in favor of Donald Trump.
“Why? Give me your reasons why????? My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away. Why?And if you disagree , please unfollow me,” she wrote on the social media site.
Thousands of people responded, though few gave her a reason and instead mocked her and her daughter.
“Perhaps teach your daughter about birth control options? That or kill your future grandkid? Pretty easy choice,” one person wrote.
After a barrage of comments, Applegate told her more than 1.5 million followers to unfollow her if they voted against women’s rights and disability rights. She also informed everyone that after November 6 she planned on shutting down her X account.
Several hours later she returned to apologize, stating she was still “reeling and sobbing,” though she wasn’t angry anymore.
“Just going to go back to my bubble and watch a shit ton of Bravo shows So peace to all. I suggest you do the same. Very soothing.”
Similar sentiments have been shared across the internet since Donald Trump became president-elect.
