It’s always a miraculous occasion when a child comes into the world, but there are certain things that can happen during childbirth that quite literally leave everyone present with a memory for life.
That was certainly the case during one birth at the Santa Monica Hospital in Brazil.
The doctors and nurses working at the hospital have, of course, experienced thousands of deliveries – but none quite like this!
Brenda Coelho de Souza, 24, gave birth to her baby through Caesarean section, with the child’s father filming the beautiful moment their daughter came into the world.
But what happened after the little girl, named Agata Ribeiro Coelhos, was born, no one – not even the doctors – could have been prepared for.
Immediately following her birth, Agata was placed next to her mother’s face so that the two could begin striking up their life-long bond.
With the pair lying next to each other, both with their eyes closed tight, Agata did something remarkable – she stretched her little arm out around her mother’s face and refused to let go.
It was an incredible gesture of unconditional love that touched everyone in the room.
Brenda certainly enjoyed the special moment. A few seconds afterward, Agata looked to try and give her mother a kiss (perhaps she was simply trying to ride the early train to Milk Town).
In any case, the video below manages to capture the special moment when mother and daughter make eye contact for the first time.
“It was an incredible moment when my daughter hugged me for the first time,” Brenda, an administrative assistant, said.
“The medical team were great and were all really surprised that she acted this way, they couldn’t believe how affectionate she was with me.
“Agata is now three months old and is doing great, every day is a surprise and I love being a mother.”
