Donald Trump is not the biggest fan of Barack Obama and what he did during his eight years in the White House. He even led the “movement” about the former president not being born in the country. The same applies to the opposite direction, as Obama has spoken out against Trump’s decisions and ideas on several occasions. But at late Jimmy Carter’s funeral, the two sat next to each other. A new book now reveals what Trump asked his predecessor
Donald Trump is not afraid of speaking his mind. However, one of the problems seems to be that he won’t let go of things, even though they have been proven to be the opposite of what he believes.
One person who has been through this is Barack Obama. During his 2008 presidential campaign, rumors circulated that he was not born in the United States.
The Obama campaign even felt the need to release a photocopy of his short-form “certificate of live birth,” which showed he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4, 1961.
Barack was later elected President of the United States, but in March of 2011, Donald Trump began showing doubts about whether Obama had a US birth certificate or not. The former The Apprentice star said he would send a team of private investigators to Hawaii to find out ‘the truth.’
He also promised to donate $5 million to charity if anyone could convince him that Barack was born on US soil. Trump continued in 2012 by saying through his X, then Twitter, account, that he had an “extremely credible source,” who had claimed the birth certificate was a fraud.

In 2014, he asked hackers to access Barack Obama’s college records to check his “place of birth. Donald Trump has attacked Obama many more times, and not only about the birth certificate.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama has also criticized Trump. As late as April of this year, the former president took a swing at how Trump and his conservative party have treated the Oval Office compared to his days at the White House.
Although he didn’t name-drop Donald Trump, it was clear who he was talking about.
“It’s unimaginable that the same parties that are silent now would have tolerated behavior like that from me or a whole bunch of my predecessors,” Obama said when speaking at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, per CNN Politics writer/editor David Wright, who detailed the speech in a thread on X,
“Imagine if I had said to law firms that were representing parties that were upset with policies my administration had initiated that you will not be allowed into government buildings. We will punish you economically for dissenting from the [ACA] or the Iran Deal,” Barack Obama continued. “Imagine if I had done any of this. Imagine I had pulled Fox News’ credentials from the White House press corps.”
He added, “The idea that a White House can say to law firms, if you represent parties that we don’t like, we’re going to pull all our business or bar you from representing people effectively … that kind of behavior is contrary to the basic compact we have as Americans.”
New book reveals what Donald Trump asked Barack Obama at Jimmy Carter’s funeral
Donald Trump and Barack Obama appear not to be the best of friends. Even so, they have met several times, including when Barack welcomed the former real estate mogul to the White House when he was to take office in January 2017.
When former president Jimmy Carter was buried in early January this year, several presidents gathered for the funeral to honor him: Donald Trump, George W Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden.
In connection with the funeral, Obama and Trump went viral after being seen sitting together, laughing and talking to each other. The information has not been disclosed until now. In the new book 2024 by political reporters Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager, and Isaac Arnsdorf, it’s described that Donald Trump invited Obama to play a round of golf at one of his many courses. He asked if his predecessor would join him, and
“He sat next to Barack Obama and invited him to play golf, enticing him with descriptions of Trump’s courses around the world,”
It’s not known whether Barack Obama accepted Donald Trump’s invitation to play at one of his 17 golf courses. Moreover, at the time, forensic lip reader Jeremy Freeman claimed Trump asked Obama if they could “find a quiet place” later in the day to discuss a “matter of importance.
