Kristin Cabot and Andy Byron made headlines in the recent past after they went viral when they were attending a Coldplay concert.
The couple quickly attempted to hide their faces when the Jumbotron suddenly focused on them, but it was too late. The damage had been done, and the video scored millions of views on social media, spurring countless parodies and recreations.
Now, Kristin Cabot’s husband is speaking out. Keep reading to know more.
In July this year, Kritsin Cabot, the HR chief of Astronomer, and the CEO of the company, Andy Byron, were attending a Coldplay concert together in Boston. The couple was seemingly embracing one another when the camera focused on them and projected their intimate moment on the big screen.
As soon as the couple realised what was happening, they sprang apart. The reaction was confusing, prompting Coldplay’s singer Chris Martin to say, “Oh look at these two. Either they are having an affair or they’re just really shy.”
Because of their reaction, the couple went viral, and the video was viewed by millions of people around the world.
After the controversial clip went viral, it was revealed that Cabot had filed for divorce from her husband, Andrew Cabot, last month. But the pair had been reportedly separated even before the concert had happened.
A spokeswoman for Andrew said in an interview that he and Kristin ‘were privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert’.
“Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening,” the spokeswoman clarified.
“Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued. No further public comment will be made,” the spokeswoman said.
After the clip went viral, Byron resigned from his role as CEO of Astronomer. The company issued a public statement, saying, “As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”
It went on to read, “Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”
Cabot also reportedly left her position, and Pete DeJoy issued a statement online saying, “The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies—let alone startups in our small corner of the data and AI world—ever encounter,” he wrote.”
“The spotlight has been unusual and surreal for our team and, while I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name.”
