The manhunt for Charlie Kirk’s killer is underway.
No suspects have been arrested yet, but authorities are actively looking a sniper dressed in black who was seen fleeing a rooftop shortly after the conservative commentator was fatally shot in the neck.
A married father of two
Charlie Kirk, the conservative political commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, died yesterday at just 31 after being shot while answering questions at a rally at Utah Valley University.
According to the Daily Mail, police are currently searching for a sniper dressed in black who was seen fleeing a rooftop shortly after Kirk was fatally shot in the neck.
Footage from the Utah Valley University event shows a person lying flat on their stomach atop a building directly across from where Kirk collapsed.
Kirk, a married father of two, was struck in the jugular by a single bullet while addressing a crowd of roughly 3,000 people about mass shootings. His wife, Erika Frantzve, their three-year-old daughter, and a 16-month-old son, were present at the event but are unharmed.
”A dark day for our state”
Moments before the fatal shot, the individual in dark clothing can be seen stationary on the roof of the Losee Center, approximately 150 to 200 yards from Kirk.
Police have not released any information regarding a motive for the shooting. Two individuals who were initially arrested have since been released, with officials stating they have ”no current ties” to the incident.

At a press conference following the tragic event, Utah Governor Spencer Cox addressed the public with a firm stance, directly warning the shooter:
”This is a dark day for our state,” Cox said. ”It’s a tragic day for our nation. I want to be very clear that this is a political assassination.”
A stern warning
He added that the investigation is ongoing but issued a stark warning:
”But I want to make it crystal clear right now to whoever did this, we will find you, we will try you, and we will hold you accountable to the furthest extent of the law. And I just want to remind people that we still have the death penalty.”
Charlie Kirk, 31, was a conservative political commentator and co-founder of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit that promotes right-leaning politics on high school and college campuses.

A prominent supporter and friend of President Donald Trump, Kirk was also considered a close friend by Vice President J.D. Vance.
Trump later shared news of Kirk’s death on Truth Social:
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
