Donald and Melania Trump are set to touch down in the UK on Wednesday for their second state visit as President and First Lady of the United States. Their son, Barron, will not be joining them on the trip, as he’s remaining in Washington, where he’s begun his sophomore year at Stern Business School.
But while Barron recently transferred to the Washington campus of NYU, mom Melania is said to be worried about her son. That, according to a source speaking to People Magazine.
Barron Trump grew up within the walls of Trump Tower in Manhattan. His mother, Melania, made it her life’s call to support and shield her son from the media and any scrutiny that could possibly appear.
When Donald Trump became the President of the United States for the first time, Melania took on even more responsibility to shield her son from any negative influences, and that has continued to this day.
Of late, Barron has been living apart from his parents for the first time, having last fall enrolled at Stern Business School at New York University. In December of last year, his mother, Melania, gave some insight into what Barron’s college experience is like.
According to the FLOTUS, he won’t be able to enjoy college life like his peers, simply because of who he is.
“I don’t think it’s possible for him to be a normal student. His experience at college — it’s very different than any other kid,” the First Lady told Fox, adding that her son is a “very strong and he knows that he’s in a different position than other children.”
Melania Trump “watches Barron constantly,” political source claims
It’s not known how Barron has been doing at school. The 19-year-old has reportedly met friends through playing video games, and rumors even claim he’s had a girlfriend.
While nothing has been confirmed, the summer has reportedly been all about business for the youngest son of the president.
But after living apart from his parents for a year, Barron has now reunited with Donald and Melania in Washington. In mid-September, the NY Post reports that Barron is moving back into the White House, from where he’ll continue his studies at NYU’s DC campus.
Melania Trump opted for Barron not to live in a dorm but instead to stay at Trump Tower during his freshman year of college. Now, a People source says the First Lady is putting a ‘considerable amount’ of her time and focus on Barron and his well-being.
According to the source, described as “political,” Melania is concerned about her son and always aims to know his whereabouts.
“Melania watches Barron constantly in an effort to be sure nobody messes with him or bullies him, as this is a constant worry with her,” the source told People. “She always knows where he is and what he’s doing.”
“Always busy”
The source added that although she puts a lot of time and effort into her son, she has plenty of other things on her mind.
For example, she is producing a documentary in partnership with Amazon Prime Video, which is scheduled for release later in 2025. She spent the summer between New York, New Jersey, and Washington.
“Melania is quiet and behind the scenes but always busy with something she is pursuing herself,” the source said.
