Nicole Kidman made every effort to save her marriage with Keith Urban, including a ‘mad dash’ back to Nashville when it became apparent things were on the brink of falling apart.
That’s according to RadarOnline, who claim that the Oscar-winning actor was too late to save the broken relationship, resulting in the end of one of the entertainment industry’s most celebrated couples.
TMZ reported news of Kidman and Urban’s break up earlier this week, revealing that it was Urban who had ultimately made the call. The outlet also detailed how the pair, married since 2006, had been living separately since before the summer.
Kidman, it’s been widely written, has taken on primary care of their daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Magaret, 14, while Urban moved out of the family home and into a new place in Nashville.
An official reason for the high-profile split hasn’t been given, but numerous reports speculate that there have been cracks in the relationship for some time.
One of said cracks may have come as a result of Kidman upping her workload in recent years. The celebrated actor let her schedule slow to a near standstill when her two daughters by Urban, Sunday and Faith, were younger.

In recent years, though, Kidman has enjoyed something of a resurgence with regards to her career. A source close to the family reportedly told People that the 58-year-old “truly thrived working again. She’s been feeling amazing and very happy about having a career again.”
“Now when they are older, [Sunday and Faith] love seeing their mom work. They are very supportive of their mom,” says the source.
The anonymous tipster added, however, that Urban isn’t quite so enthusiastic.
“Keith was used to her being supportive of his career,” said the source. “He’s not been as supportive as she hoped.”

Nevertheless, the consensus – taking into account the general message being thrust into the public space by the media – is that Kidman did want to salvage the marriage rather than accept their impending divorce as final.
The 58-year-old recently appeared at the Nashville Film Festival week, appearing to be in good spirits as she promised to bring “more and more production” to Tennessee.
“I love the Nashville people because they embraced me two decades ago, and they keep making it possible for our family to have the most beautiful life here,” Kidman told the audience.
Radar Online now cite an insider source who claims that Kidman “rushed back” to Nashville in an attempt to save her and Urban’s marriage. The New Zealander, however, had already made up his mind.
“Nicole wanted to show she was committed, but the truth is Keith had already made up his mind,” the source said. “She rushed back to Nashville, hoping to fix things, but by then it was too late. It’s very sad for her.”
Meanwhile, a second insider added: “Two narratives are playing out. Nicole’s camp says it’s only a trial separation, while Keith’s camp believes the marriage ended long ago. But either way, the reality is they are broken and done.”
Kidman formally filed for divorce on Tuesday, September 29.
