Hollywood star Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found dead at their home on Sunday. Hours later, their son, Nick Reiner, was detained on suspicion of killing them both. Reports now suggest that the legendary director had long been very concerned about Nick.
Police detained Nick Reiner on Sunday night. He is suspected of the murder of his father, Hollywood legend Rob Reiner, and his mother, Michele Reiner. The shocking killings have stunned the entertainment world. While the likes of Donald Trump have blasted Rob, tributes have flooded in from all over the world.
Nick is currently in custody in connection with the brutal killings. He was found close to USC in South Los Angeles at around 9:15 p.m.
“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the Reiners,” Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said at a news conference Monday, calling the situation “a tragic incident.”

The shocking homicide has not only shocked the entertainment world but also, of course, his family. Rob and Michele’s two daughters, Tracy and Romy, as well as their son Jake, have been left without their parents, and it’s impossible to imagine what they are going through.
The Reiner family has gone through many tough years, especially as Nick has been a drug addict. He has struggled with mental illness and addiction, and according to the NY Post, the 32-year-old has been in and out of rehab 17 times since the age of 15.
The Post, citing a family friend, claimed that Nick was thought to be back on drugs. For months, Rob and his wife have feared for their son’s mental state. The father was terrified when he left the Christmas party on Saturday.
“Rob had been telling people that they’re scared for Nick and scared that his mental state was deteriorating. These poor people did everything to help this kid,” the friend, who lives a few blocks away from the Reiner home and has known Nick their entire life, said.

“Nick was supposedly off drugs,” the source added, but then began hearing he was “not so much off them.” Moreover, Nick had reportedly been “badly addicted to a combo of opiates and heroin.”
Rob Reiner began his successful Hollywood career as Michael “Meathead” Stivic in the classic television series All in the Family. He continued to direct classics such as When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men. Also, he made Stand by Me, which he has said is his favorite. He married Michele in 1989.
Both Rob and Michele attended the Christmas party at Conan’s on Saturday with Nick. But the son left after a “loud” argument with his father.
“Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,’’ a source told People magazine.
Another friend of the family told the NY Post, “I know [the parents] wanted him to get help, go to rehab, but he wanted to get help while at home — he did not want to get treatment at a facility.”

Sadly, it wasn’t the first loud argument between Rob Reiner and his son, Nick. A few months ago, according to the Post, they had a public argument at a restaurant.
“Nick has been troubled mentally for his entire life and they have tried everything to try and help him and been unable to,” the source said. They added that Rob and Michele spared no expense in trying to get Nick to rehab.
