Dog the Bounty Hunter’s stepson arrested for ‘shooting dead 13-year-old son’

Dog the Bounty Hunter’s stepson, Gregory Zecca, has been arrested for allegedly shooting his 13-year-old son, Anthony, dead.

Anthony was shot and killed at a Florida apartment on July 19, 2025. At the time of his death, the shooting was reported as accidental, but his father has now been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm and using a firearm while under the influence.

It’s reported that Zecca had been drinking heavily throughout the day of July 19, before allegedly ingesting marijuana while at a UFC watch party with his son at a friend’s house.

At said residence, Zecca, the son of Dog the Bounty Hunter’s wife, Francie Chapman, is said to have brandished his firearm close to Anthony several times. This reportedly included “practicing drawing it from his waistband and dry-firing” with no magazine in the weapon.

Yet the magazine was at some point reinserted into the gun, with authorities revealing that Zecca then “discharged a single shot, fatally striking” his young son.

Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk stated: “This was a heartbreaking and preventable tragedy.

“Our detectives conducted an exhaustive and thorough investigation, examining every element of what happened through witness statements, forensic testing, subpoenas, search warrants, and more. I commend their hard work and professionalism in uncovering the facts in an incredibly difficult case.”

Upon arrival, emergency responders picked up on the smell of alcohol on Zecca’s breath. Subsequent search warrants were issued for medical records and a blood draw.

A toxicology expert estimated Zecca’s blood-alcohol concentration to be approximately 0.116 at the time of the shooting. The legal limit in Florida is 0.08, leading the toxicologist to conclude that Zecca was ‘impaired by alcohol’.

Tragically, Anthony had lost “large amounts of blood” by the time responders arrived at the scene, and died of his injury.

“This case underscores that devastating tragedy that can result from mixing firearms, alcohol and drugs,” Sheriff Rambosk added.

“Our hearts are with everyone affected by this loss.”

Zecca was placed on a psychiatric hold following the shooting, while a family rep told TMZ at the time he would be monitored with ‘extreme caution over fears he may try to take his own life’.

Per the Sheriff’s Office, Zecca, 39, was taken into custody “on a warrant for aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm and using a firearm while under the influence,” which could result in a life sentence.
