Melania Trump slammed as “joke” over “gross” announcement

As deadly strikes continue and casualties rise in the Iran conflict, Melania Trump is being attacked online, with critics calling her a “joke” and labeling her latest move “gross.”

It has been nearly two weeks since the U.S. and Israel launched attacks against Iran – a conflict, according to the New York Times, that has already claimed the lives of at least 1,348 civilians, injured more than 17,000 – and cost the U.S. $11.3 billion in the first six days.

While the war has left many people unsettled, attention online has shifted toward the first lady.

State of the Union appearance

Melania Trump had already drawn attention earlier this year during a rare public appearance. The 55-year-old joined President Donald Trump at the State of the Union address in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 24, walking into the chamber hand-in-hand with the president as she was greeted with applause.

Footage of the moment circulated widely on social media, where viewers closely analyzed her appearance.

Some users quickly revived a long-running online theory suggesting the first lady sometimes uses a body double at public events.

“Melania Trump the AI movie star. She is really a fake robot,” one user commented, while a second wrote: “Real or fake Melania?” per The Mirror US.

The speculation spread across social media following the widely shared clips of her entrance.

‘Agonizingly dull’

Weeks after that appearance, Melania is now facing criticism after sharing a message with her followers on X.

The post promoted her recently released film Melania, a “high-gloss, low-substance vanity project/documentary,” that the Detroit News reports calls “numbingly, agonizingly dull.”

Yet the first lady, who’s quite proud of her work, announced her movie had reached the top position on the streaming platform Amazon Prime.

“#1 movie Prime worldwide,” FLOTUS wrote.

Online users shocked

The message attracted almost 200,000 sets of eyes, with many users pointing to the timing of the post as tensions involving Iran continue to escalate.

“Seriously? This is what you post? Something about yourself? With everything happening now and the chaos caused by your dearly beloved?” one user wrote.

“Can you believe this is what the so called first lady’s biggest issue is in a time of war?” sniped a second while a third wrote, “Or you could be doing First Lady things!?”

Another added, “I’m not asking you to HELP de-escalate tensions, find a compromise, visit families but maybe at least you could be keeping your husband from destructing the world!?”

‘Gross’

Others criticized the project itself.

“Gross. She doesn’t deserve a documentary. I will never watch it,” tweeted one user while a second wrote: “Total vanity project. What a joke.”

“All your family does is grift,” shared a third.

Meanwhile, one social media user shared an image showing two young girls cozying up to Jeffrey Epstein and Bret Ratner, who directed Melania’s documentary. Ratner has not directed a film in more than a decade after Hollywood distanced itself from him following sexual assault allegations made by several women.

“This is Bret Ratner, he directed Melania’s movie,” the user wrote over the photo, highlighting Epstein and Ratner, whose credits include Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand.
