Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was arrested in February, on his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Now, it’s been claimed that the police gave him a somewhat uncharming nickname after his arrest.
On February 19, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. According to the BBC, police also conducted searches in Norfolk and Berkshire.
The Thames Valley Police released a statement after Andrew Monutbatten-Windsor was arrested. They said it was assessing a complaint over the alleged sharing of confidential material with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
“As part of the investigation, we have today (19/2) arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.”
“We will not be naming the arrested man, as per national guidance. Please also remember that this case is now active so care should be taken with any publication to avoid being in contempt of court.“
Police gave Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor ‘awful’ nickname after arrest
Shortly after police released a statement, King Charles did the same.
“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation,” King Charles said.
“Let me state clearly: the law must take its course,” he continued. “As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
Andrew was released under investigation later that day after spending 11 hours at the police station. Many police officers were involved in the arrest, and now, a new report suggests that they gave the disgraced former prince a not-that-nice nickname.
According to The Sun, a source claimed that Andrew was dubbed “Detainee A.” Why? So cops could supposedly avoid possible claims of favourable treatment towards him.
“It brings it home, doesn’t it? To go from Prince and Duke and Earl, Baron, Knight — all those fancy titles, then suddenly you’re Detainee A, a source told The Sun. “He must have thought just being plain ‘Andy’ was awful at one point. I don’t suppose he thought it could get much worse.”
