Charles McDowell, who once went viral for the size of his neck, is making headlines again. This time, though, for far more serious reasons.
Charles McDowell, widely known online as the “Wide Neck guy,” first gained attention in 2018 after his mugshot began circulating on social media. At the time, he had been booked into Escambia County Jail in Florida on charges including stalking and failure to pay child support.
The viral moment soon turned into internet fame. He later leaned into the fame, even collaborating with fellow viral personality Daddy Long Neck on a video, according to LADbible.
But his legal troubles didn’t stop there. In August 2022, authorities issued a warrant for his arrest after he allegedly showed up at a woman’s home and sent her threatening messages, according to LADbible. He was later arrested on additional charges, including drug-related offenses and evading law enforcement.

Despite this, McDowell maintained a social media presence, and he has over 862k followers on Instagram. He also attempted to turn his social media fame into a music career.
Following previous arrests, during which he was reportedly held without bond, McDowell appeared to return to social media. His Instagram bio reads: “I ain’t ever going back to that life.” But recent developments suggest otherwise.
As of 2025, McDowell is facing multiple felony charges, including allegations of furnishing obscene material to a minor. According to TMZ, he is accused of sending sexually explicit videos of a victim to several individuals, including her 13-year-old son, 16-year-old daughter, her mother, and another unidentified person.
Jail records show that McDowell now faces a series of charges, including five counts of electronic transmission or posting of explicit images without consent, four counts of electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor, and making harassing phone calls. He was previously reported to be held without bond at Cherokee County Jail.
