Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has spent the last week in Australia. Now, the couple has gotten attention on social media, but not because of their actions. Instead, as the Duke and Duchess visited a beach, a beachgoer stole the spotlight as she brutally ignored the couple.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have spent more than six years outside of the Royal Family. They announced their departure in January 2020 to pursue a quieter life outside the spotlight. However, one could argue it has become the opposite.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have had several business ventures, including podcasts, a television show, Harry’s memoir, and more. Moreover, they have been traveling to several countries and embarked on what some have called “royal tours.”
During the last weeks, Harry and Meghan have been in Australia. For example, they visited and met with children at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, among other appearances. Moreover, Meghan held a “girls’ retreat” at a Sydney luxury hotel.
The couple ended their tour in Sydney. On Friday, April 17, they visited the famous Bondi Beach. However, it wasn’t anything they did that sparked attention online, but what a beachgoer, just trying to enjoy a quiet “me-time,” did.
The Duke and Duchess’ Bondi Beach visit took an unexpected turn when a video showed the duo being completely ignored by a female beachgoer. She has now been dubbed the internet’s “unbothered queen.”
In a TikTok video posted by News.com.au, a woman is seen relaxing on her beach towel when she is suddenly swarmed by a crowd. In the middle of the horde of people, Harry and Meghan.
The former Royal Family members were surrounded by a camera crew, lifeguards, and fans as they walked on the beach. All of a sudden, a woman lying on her towel, not moving despite the many people surrounding her, appeared in the frame. Harry was seen laughing at the moment, and the video has racked up millions of views on all platforms.
Social media users quickly took to the comment section to praise the beachgoer.
“She’s in her own plane of existence and does not wish to be bothered — simple as that,” one person wrote.
Another simply branded her, “Unbothered queen.”
The video spread on the social media platform Reddit as well, where one person commented, “This is peak Bondi attitude from everyone.”
On X, the video also made headway. However, many were furious with how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle acted.
“Why are these former royals being so disrespectful as to walk over and through beachgoers who were already there? Entitled and spoiled. And STOP CALLING HARRY PRINCE. He doesn’t own that title anymore. He’s been booted along with Meghan,” one user wrote.
“Meghan Markle and her media stunts—who cares about Meghan Markle? Why should anyone give a damn about that woman?” a second added.
A third asked, “Why would you just walk over top of someone like that?” with a fourth writing, “‘Humanitarians’ don’t trample over people on the beach. Harry and Meghan are bullies and when they don’t get what they want (making people get up and move for them) they do this.”
