‘Kivin method’ explained as sex experts say it’s a game-changer in the bedroom

Just as for cars, types of clothes, personality types, and hairstyles, when it comes to sex, everything has a name, whether it’s new or old. So, ever heard of the Kivin Method? Experts claim it takes oral sex to a new level. A sex therapist explains why so many women love this simple technique.

People love naming things when it comes to sex, everything from kinks. positions to different orientations. While it might be confusing to get a grip on all of them, naming them can be very helpful.

Not least because it helps people to communicate and know exactly what they are looking for and want in bed with another partner.

So what is this ‘Kivin Method’? Well, let’s take a closer look. Basically, it’s “sideways cunnilingus, meaning going down on your lady from the side. It’s safe to say, at least according to Dr. Holly Richmond, psychologist and certified sex therapist, it’s amazing.

“I was actually unaware that this had a name, but have been prescribing it to my couples’ clients who are looking to spice up their sex lives for a long time,” Richmond told Men’s Health. “Side-lying cunnilingus is nothing new. If it makes it easier for us to talk about, that’s fantastic.”

Experts say the technique is all about positioning and comfort. In the setup, the partner performing oral sex lies sideways while the receiving partner rests on her back. Either side can work, though some specialists suggest experimenting with both, noting that many women experience greater clitoral sensitivity on one side than the other.

The sideways position allows for broad, consistent stimulation, with the tongue moving across the clitoris and clitoral hood while pressure is also applied to the sensitive area between the vaginal opening and anus, commonly known as the perineum.

According to Dr. Holly Richmond, subtle pulsations in this area can often signal that a woman is approaching orgasm — a response many partners view as confirmation that the technique is working effectively.

“Just like with men, when a woman is nearing and reaching orgasm, you can feel pulsations in this area,” Richmond explained.

“What I love about this position is that it is novel for many couples, and brings a new sensation to oral sex.”

However, she added, “Every woman, every clitoris is unique, and for some this position creates too much sensitivity. Open communication is key to great sex, whichever positions you choose.”
