In a now-deleted Instagram statement, 39-year-old Daphne Joy described the leak as deeply painful and claimed she never consented to being filmed. Joy, who reportedly dated Diddy between 2021 and his 2024 arrest, reflected on their relationship and said she often ignored her own boundaries in an effort to make him happy.
“Everybody plays the fool sometime, and I have been the biggest fool,” she wrote. “I just wanted my man at the time to be happy and satisfied… even if that meant breaking my own boundaries.”
Joy said she once believed the relationship was built on love but now views it very differently. She described revisiting the footage as “triggering” and said it forced her to confront difficult memories from that period of her life.
According to Joy, the video was recorded without her consent and later became the subject of an alleged extortion attempt. She claimed an individual in possession of the footage demanded a large sum of money and threatened to release it online if she refused to pay.

“I was blackmailed by the person in the video,” she alleged. “I almost gave in to this demand.”
Joy said the footage was eventually sold to a major media company, which she claims declined to publish it after determining it was connected to revenge porn and an alleged extortion scheme.
The actress, who shares 13-year-old son Sire with rapper 50 Cent, said the leak has been especially painful because of how vulnerable she now sees herself during that chapter of her life.
“I just want to hold that girl in that room and get her out of there,” she wrote. “And tell her that wasn’t love and she didn’t need to do this for love.”
The situation also prompted a public response from 50 Cent, who appeared to criticize Joy in a series of social media posts. One post suggested that their son was the true victim of the situation, while another took aim at Diddy.
The controversy comes amid years of scrutiny surrounding Diddy and his relationships. In 2024, Joy was mentioned in a lawsuit filed by Diddy’s former producer, Rodney Jones, who alleged that she was among several women paid to act as sex workers for the music mogul.
Joy strongly denied the allegations at the time, calling them false and defamatory.

“I am deeply hurt by the lies in Rodney Jones’ lawsuit,” she said in a previous statement. “The claim that I am a sex worker is 100 percent false and character assassination.”
She also stated that she was exploring legal options against both Jones and his attorney.
