Barron Trump is facing major backlash over energy drink prices as they hit US shelves

Barron Trump’s new energy drink has officially hit shelves across the U.S., but not everyone is impressed, and the price is a big reason why.

Barron Trump, best known as the youngest son of Donald Trump and Melania Trump, is now listed as a partner in a new beverage company, marking his latest entrepreneurial effort.

According to The Mirror, he is one of five partners behind Sollos Yerba Mate Inc. The company is a startup focused on caffeinated herbal drinks, centered around yerba mate – a traditional South American tea made from the dried leaves and twigs of the Ilex paraguariensis plant. Often marketed as an alternative to coffee, yerba mate contains nearly twice the caffeine of matcha.

The brand launched its first product last month: a pineapple and coconut-flavored Yerba Mate drink. It is available in stores throughout Florida and online nationwide. But they have received some serious backlash after launching.

A 12-pack is $39, which works out to more than $3 per can, according to UNILAD, and the price has sparked criticism from consumers.

On SheFinds, one user reacted to the cost by writing: “12 pack for $39? Insane,” according to the outlet.

While some potential customers may be hesitant to spend that much on an energy drink, others have given the product positive reviews. Floridians in particular have reportedly praised the drink’s connection to the state.

According to the company’s website, the flavors were developed with Florida’s lifestyle in mind: “Despite Florida’s outdoor, sun-driven lifestyle, there was no clean, functional, and great-tasting beverage that truly fit how people in Florida actually live. Existing options either lacked quality ingredients or failed to deliver a refreshing taste that matched the environment and lifestyle,” the website states.

The company also says the drink is “something refreshing after a surf session, energizing enough to carry you through a tennis set, and crafted with organic ingredients,” according to UNILAD.

The company has also launched a merchandise collection that includes a $95 hoodie, an $80 insulated beach bag, a $30 baseball cap, shorts, and other apparel.
