Scientists predict date humans will go extinct and claim it’s 95% accurate

Scientists have issued a disturbing warning with the symbolic “Doomsday Clock,” which represents how close humanity is to global catastrophe. In the recent adjustment, it sits closer to midnight than ever before.

A chilling new scientific warning has left many people unsettled after researchers revealed that the world is now closer to a symbolic “doomsday” point than at any time in history.

The latest update comes from the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, the team behind the famous Doomsday Clock, which measures humanity’s proximity to global catastrophe.

It is “a design that warns the public about how close we are to destroying our world with dangerous technologies of our own making,” according to the group.

And in its most recent adjustment, the clock now sits at just 85 seconds to midnight, the closest it has ever been set. The Doomsday Clock isn’t a literal countdown to destruction, but a symbolic tool created back in 1947 by scientists linked to the early nuclear age.

It is maintained by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, an organization founded by researchers from the Manhattan Project era. Each year, experts review global risks and adjust the clock based on how safe or dangerous the world appears to be.

In 2026, the decision was grim. Per ABC News, the clock was moved forward again, signaling growing fears over nuclear tensions, climate change, and rapidly advancing technologies like artificial intelligence.

When it was first introduced, just two years after the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, the Doomsday Clock was set at seven minutes to midnight.

Since that moment, the symbolic clock has been moved both forward and backward several times, reflecting changing global tensions and periods of relative calm.

The furthest it has ever been set from “midnight” was in 1991, when it stood at 17 minutes to midnight. This came after then–President George H.W. Bush and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev announced major cuts to their countries’ nuclear arsenals, alongside renewed progress on the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty.

Last year, the clock moved to 89 seconds before midnight. The 2024 and 2023 Doomsday Clock was set at 90 seconds before midnight.
