Brooklyn Beckham is facing fresh backlash after turning his bitter family feud into a World Cup promotion, with critics accusing the 27-year-old of cashing in on the rift with David and Victoria.
Brooklyn Beckham, the son of football legend David Beckham and Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, has spent the past year at the center of a growing family feud, one that escalated after he and wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham skipped his father’s 50th birthday celebrations in May 2025.
Their relationships appeared to deteriorate further in the months that followed. According to the Daily Mail, Brooklyn later blocked his parents and siblings on social media and insisted that any communication go through legal representatives.
Then, in January, the founder of Cloud23 hot sauce shocked followers with a scathing Instagram statement accusing his parents of years of manipulation.
“I have been silent for years and have made every attempt to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed,” he wrote. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
‘It’s a long story’
Months later, Brooklyn teased a DoorDash campaign that many fans interpreted as another dig at his estranged family.
Looking into the camera, he said: “You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home…It’s a long story.”
The teaser concluded with the message: “It’s complicated. More soon.”

Now that the full advertisement has been released, it has reignited debate over whether Brooklyn is deliberately using his family drama in the campaign. In the video, the aspiring chef reveals he does, in fact, have World Cup tickets.
“It’s not like I don’t have tickets,” he said, adding, “It’s because…it’s a long story.”
He then drops the tickets into a DoorDash bag and hands it over to the delivery guy.
“This can go to someone else,” he said, smiling into the camera, while waving the driver away and asking him to make sure the tickets go “somewhere fun.”
The campaign is part of DoorDash’s World Cup promotions, giving away hundreds of tickets to fans across North America.
Fans divided
Reaction to Brooklyn’s campaign online was swift, though viewers were divided over whether the ad was a clever joke or another swipe at his family. While some fans praised the former model for embracing the narrative surrounding his estrangement from his famous parents, others accused him of profiting from the feud.
“I love this – brilliant and very clever. Self-deprecating and owning the narrative. Anyone who has and truly understands dysfunctional families has got your back. Well Played DoorDash,” one supporter wrote.
A second shared: “Absolutely love him for this. This is the same as Victoria’s humour. Who cares about family drama. Go Brooklyn.”
“I usually I can’t stand all the Beckham gravy train, but it is quite amusing. It’s the first time he made me laugh. I don’t think it ruins him,” another added.

Others, however, were far less impressed. Some accused Brooklyn of disrespecting his parents, with one critic branding him an “arrogant little swine,” while another questioned why he would profit from the family drama, writing: “Disgusting behaviour… if you don’t want anything to do with your family why profit from them?”
A third netizen didn’t hold back either, writing: “Brooklyn shame on you, ya wanker disrespecting you parents, shame on you.”
Meanwhile, a third asked: “Is this a dig at his dad?”
Brooklyn missed visit from Harper
The controversy comes shortly after Brooklyn’s parents were in Los Angeles to celebrate Beckham’s induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The star footballer, a co-owner of professional soccer club Inter Miami – appeared at the festivities alongside his 52-year-old wife and Brooklyn’s siblings; Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, who turns 15 in July.
According to Page Six, Brooklyn was not home when his sister visited the $16 million Hollywood mansion he shares with Nicola.
