Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly leaving the U.S with their children and moving back to the U.K. The reported return to the UK has sparked a strong reaction among MAGA supporters, with some claiming that Donald Trump could be behind the move.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left royal life behind in 2026. After a short stint in Canada, they settled in Montecito, California, where they have ventured into several businesses with mixed results. However, a shocking turn has now occurred: they are reportedly set to return to the UK.
The couple are said to have already enrolled Archie and Lilibet in British schools and are expected to live in a non-royal home outside London.
The fact that the children are rumored to be already enrolled in school suggests that the couple has planned the move for some time. However, a Page Six source claims King Charles didn’t know anything about it until just days ago.
“The palace was made aware of the move,” a source told Page Six, explaining the main reason for the move. “I know that Charles is the reason they are moving back.

Per the Mirror, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will continue to do commercial and charitable work, remaining financially independent from the royals. Meanwhile, they will keep their Montecito, California home, as well as their holiday home in Portugal.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly moving back to the UK
King Charles is said to welcome his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren’s move back to the UK. However, Prince William is said not to be too keen on having his brother back, not least because of the frosty relationship in later years.
A royal source told the Mirror that the royals have been “blindsided” by the Sussexes’ move back.
“After saying that he could not see a situation safe enough to bring his wife and children to the UK just over a year ago, the fact Prince Harry is now fully prepared to not only visit but live in the country he left behind is extraordinary,” the source said.

The source added that while King Charles will be “delighted” to see his grandchildren more often, there are also concerns about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “motivation” for the move.
MAGA allies claim Donald Trump played a part in Harry leaving the U.S
While King Charles might be happy about Prince Harry moving back, one who might be even happier is President Donald Trump. Ever since Harry’s move to the U.S., the president has lashed out at the Duke over many issues.
Trump threatened to deport Harry if he had lied on his Visa application. Moreover, he clarified that he “wouldn’t protect” Harry if he won the 2024 presidential election, not least because he viewed Harry’s royal exit as a betrayal of the late Queen Elizabeth.
“I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me,” Trump told the Express at the time, adding that he believes the Royal Family was “too gracious” to Harry after “what he has done.”

Prince Harry hasn’t stayed quiet on his view of Trump either, and mocked the president in a sketch during an appearance on The Late Show with Steven Colbert.
“They don’t like President Trump”
As of late, in April, Harry said the U.S should show more leadership on Ukraine amid the Russian invasion.
According to the BBC, Trump addressed Harry’s statement and commented, “Prince Harry? How’s he doing? How’s his wife? Please give her my regards. I know one thing: Prince Harry is not speaking for the UK; that’s for sure. I think I am speaking for the UK more than Prince Harry.”
So could President Trump have anything to do with Harry and Meghan’s decision? Well, multiple reports suggest that the couple’s decision is linked to tensions with President Trump.
People reported that “they have made no secret of their disillusionment with the current White House” as the midterm elections loom. This has led several of Trump’s MAGA allies to comment on their move on social media.
One of them is Katie Miller, the husband of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller. In a post on X, quoting part of a People Magazine article, Miller wrote, “They are moving back to Britain because they don’t like President Trump.”
In other posts, Miller claimed that Meghan had provided People with information because she “always just wanted to be a celebrity” and claimed that the couple was “broke.”
Conservative political commentator Megyn Kelly also commented, saying: “We’ve done our time here in America my dear friend!”
