Rosie O’Donnell’s two-word roast of Donald Trump after he threatened to revoke her citizenship

Rosie O’Donnell has fired back at President Donald Trump after he publicly suggested he could take away her U.S. citizenship.

The latest clash comes as O’Donnell is living in Ireland and pursuing Irish citizenship through her grandparents’ heritage. It also comes just as the comedian is stepping into the spotlight as a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

In 2025, Trump posted about O’Donnell on Truth Social, saying: “Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!” he wrote, according to VT.

Feud between Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump

O’Donnell responded only hours later, sharing a photo of Trump alongside Jeffrey Epstein on Instagram.

“Hey Donald – You’re rattled again? 18 years later, and I still live rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours.”

She then launched into a lengthy response about why she believes she represents everything Trump opposes.

“I’m everything you fear. A loud woman, a queer woman, a mother who tells the truth, an American who got out of the country before you set it ablaze.

“You build walls – I build a life for my autistic kid in a country where decency still exists. You crave loyalty – I teach my children to question power.

“You sell fear on golf courses – I make art about surviving trauma.”

“You lie, you steal, you degrade – I nurture, I create, I persist,” she continued.

“You are everything that is wrong with america – and I’m everything you hate about what’s still right with it.”

O’Donnell ended the post with one final jab at the president, comparing him to the cruel young ruler from Game of Thrones.

“You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try, King Joffrey with a tangerine spray tan.”

The comedian later discussed the response during an appearance on Ireland’s RTÉ Radio 1 on Sunday with Miriam.

“I reacted with a little post that I jotted off in five minutes, and that’s been getting a lot of attention online,” she explained, according to the outlet.

“I am very proud to be opposed to every single thing he says and does and represents.”

Hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! for a week

O’Donnell is filling in as a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live! for one week. When Kimmel announced that O’Donnell would temporarily take over, he teased that her appearance would be “a special treat” for Trump.

She agreed to do the job saying she wanted to show support for Kimmel as he faced efforts from the president to have his late-night program canceled over jokes Trump disliked.

“I support [Kimmel] in what he’s doing with the First Amendment, and our ability as entertainers and citizens to speak out against our government that’s enshrined in the Founding Fathers’ writings about our government, so I think he’s fantastic,” she said.

“And I wish that Stephen Colbert had the same kind of support when it happened to him, because he shouldn’t be gone either,” she added.

“I know you’re watching”

O’Donnell made her debut behind Kimmel’s desk on Monday, August 17, walking onto the stage in a bright pink suit covered in flowers. She wasted little time addressing the ongoing feud with Trump.

“If you thought the president hated ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ when it was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel? Buckle up, people! Buckle up.

“I’ve been living in Ireland for the past two years because of ‘Mango Mussolini.’”

“I read that Project 2025 and said, ‘Gotta get myself out of here!’ and I decided to go to Ireland where people are driven to drink regardless of who’s running their country.”

At another point in the broadcast, O’Donnell looked directly into the camera and addressed the White House.

“Hi! I know you’re watching!”
