King Charles sent out a letter declaring that Prince Harry and Meghan won’t be returning to their royal roles. The Sussexes responded swiftly; however, new bombshell claims are now being made. Was it William who was behind the letter in the first place?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK has sparked rumors of a possible royal comeback. Still, after all they said about the Royal family in the past, it seemed highly unlikely, but even so, the move sparked questions.
But on Monday, King Charles set the record straight. A letter sent on behalf of King Charles clarified that Prince Harry and Meghan would not return as working royals, even after moving back to the UK.
Despite their return, Charles stated that Harry and Meghan will remain private citizens and will not be allowed to carry out official royal engagements.
They also cannot use the titles “His Royal Highness” or “Her Royal Highness,” according to the letter, which was sent on behalf of the King by the Lord Chamberlain, one of the Palace’s senior officials, the BBC reported earlier this week.
On Tuesday. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle responded.
King Charles’ letter to Prince Harry & Meghan caught them “off guard”
In a statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s spokesperson said they were “surprised” by King Charles’ letter.
“We were a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance,” adding that the letter had caught them “off guard,” the spokesperson said. However, it appeared as if everyone wasn’t on the same page regarding Harry and Meghan’s statement.
A palace source later told the Daily Mail that the spokesperson was “incorrect,” insisting that Harry and Meghan had received the letter before it was published. They were also not consulted on what was written.
While King Charles has been said to welcome Harry and Meghan’s UK return, not least because he gets to see his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the same doesn’t go for the estranged prince’s brother, Prince William.
The brothers’ feud has been ongoing for years, and meanwhile, Meghan and Kate’s relationship has also been at a low point. Rumors that William wants to ban Harry from even attending his own coronation in the future have swirled in recent years.
Prince William ‘was behind’ letter to Harry & Meghan, source claims
Now new bombshell reports about King Charles’ letter from earlier this week have surfaced. It appears the future king had more to do with his father’s letter than most people knew.
According to journalist Rob Shuter, citing a source, William pushed to have the letter written. The Prince of Wales is said to have gotten increasingly tired of the confusion surrounding Harry and Meghan’s place within the Royal family.
“William had had enough of the confusion,” the source claimed, Shuter wrote on his Substack page. “Lord Lieutenancies were asking how Harry and Meghan should be treated. William’s answer was brutally simple: nothing has changed. They are out.”
For Harry and Meghan, the message reportedly came as a shock. However, it was also a moment of clarity. The source told Shuter that Harry and Meghan then realized they had underestimated how much power and influence William has behind the palace walls.
“They’re starting to question whether this return can work. William can close doors faster than they expected. William has won, for now. Harry and Meghan are back in Britain — but they’re not back in the royal family,” the source added.
