Lady Gaga and fiancé Michael Polansky have welcomed their first baby – to the surprise of many.
Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, and fiancé Michael Polansky appear to have welcomed a child.
The couple are believed to have started dating in 2019 and got engaged in 2024.
Photos obtained by Page Six showing the couple walking outside with their newborn have genuinely surprised many. It’s unknown whether they became parents by pregnancy, surrogacy, or adoption.
There were, however, some signs across the past months that hinted at the family growing with a member.
Sign one: Gaga said motherhood was her “next starring role”
Speaking to ELLE back in January 2025, Gaga shared some early thoughts on the kind of mother she wanted to be.
“I would want my children to understand that whatever my artistry means to them is totally up to them,” she said, adding that she’d never want to shape or dictate how her kids saw her.
She wasn’t exactly subtle about wanting kids, either. On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last October, Gaga called motherhood her “next starring role.”
“I would like to do many things,” she said.
“All of these things are open. But what I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope.”
Sign two: Polansky talked about building a family around fame
Around the same time, the couple spoke to Rolling Stone about plans to get married during a break in Gaga’s Mayhem Tour.
“We’re talking about it all the time,” Polansky said.
He also touched on what it might look like raising kids in the spotlight, referencing Gaga’s godchildren, Elton John and David Furnish’s sons.
“The most important thing is making it feel like this is just our family, this is what we do.”
Sign three: Gaga kind of disappeared for months
According to the Daily Mail, Gaga has been laying low in Marin County, California, quietly building a life with Polansky out of the public eye.
She skipped the 2026 Met Gala entirely and was last seen publicly at the New York premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 back in April, right after wrapping her Mayhem Ball tour.
Even her social media activity slowed down noticeably. When she finally posted again in August, it was a set of grainy polaroids, her first images shared in months.
Before the baby news broke, another Daily Mail report speculated Gaga might be on her honeymoon, citing friends who claimed they hadn’t heard from her in weeks.
“No one has seen her or heard from her in over a month,” one source said at the time.
“Everyone in her circle thinks she eloped with Michael and is on her honeymoon now, trying to make a baby.”
