A beloved Hollywood actress has left us. Mary Louise Weller, best known for playing Mandy Pepperidge in the 1978 comedy classic Animal House, has died at 79.

Weller’s cause of death has not been revealed. Born on October 2, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, Weller made her screen debut in the 1972 comedy Hail.
The following year, she appeared in an uncredited role alongside Al Pacino in the crime classic Serpico. Several other parts followed, especially on television, where she guest-starred in series such as Starsky and Hutch, Baretta, and Kojak.
However, her role in the 1978 film Animal House would come to define Mary Louise Weller’s career. She played Mandy Pepperidge, the glamorous sorority sister, alongside actors like John Belushi, Tim Matheson, and a young Kevin Bacon.
The movie became one of the most famous comedies of the 1970s, and Weller’s role made her a familiar face to millions.

Weller later recalled being warned that Animal House could become the movie she’d be remembered for. And that prediction proved true.
While Animal House became perhaps Mary Louise Weller’s most memorable role, her career went far beyond. She appeared in many movies, including The Bell Jar and Bloodtide. Her final screen appearance came in 1983 on Quincy, M.E.
Weller had other passions than acting. Weller was also passionate about horses and became an accomplished equestrian. She later stepped away from acting and focused on horses and writing.
