Video shows horrifying moment woman, 25, plunges 65 feet to her death from top of waterfall

A search involving 119 rescuers ended in tragedy after a 25-year-old woman was found dead beneath a waterfall in Indonesia, where she had fallen more than 65 feet.

Windy Rahma Putri had been visiting Robo Waterfall in West Sumatra on Thursday when the fatal accident occurred. The waterfall is located in Harau, a protected nature reserve and canyon in Lima Puluh Kota Regency.

Video shared online captures the moments leading up to her fall. Windy is seen on the rocks after bathing when she attempts to get up, apparently struggling to maintain her footing on the slick surface.

She then slides toward the cliff’s edge. In the final moments captured in the footage, she reaches toward another person nearby, seemingly hoping to grab hold of them. She is unable to do so before being swept over the falls.

“The victim was reported to have slipped and was suspected of drowning and being swept away,” Abdul Malik, head of the Padang search and rescue office, said, according to Newsflash.

Windy Rahma Putri’s tragic death

The search for Windy continued into the next day after rescue teams failed to locate her during their initial efforts. Her body was eventually discovered Friday morning in the ravine below the waterfall, according to VT.

Recovering her body presented another challenge. The steep terrain made it difficult for crews to reach and retrieve her, requiring them to use a specialized rope system to bring her back up the cliffside.

The operation brought together 119 people, including police, firefighters, military personnel, disaster management agency staff and local residents. Windy’s body was subsequently returned to her family to be taken home.
