Swimwear modelling can often be perceived as sexually provocative, but as you will see in these amazing images, that doesn’t always need to be the case.
What these images above and beyond prove, is that one does not need to be young to wear a swimsuit gracefully and beautifully – as Yazemeenah Rossi does here.
The photos below are a collaboration between the online shop The Dreslyn and lingerie house Land of Women. Founder of The Dreslyn Brooke Taylor Corcia wanted to show that advertising swimwear need not be sexist and that older women are equally worthy of being shown in them.
According to the Huffington Post, Rossi was chosen for particular reasons: “This is a woman who radiates health and vitality,” Corcia said. “She’s confident, she’s a visual artist, she takes care of herself. [This line is] all about being a person who’s well-lived and well-traveled and has intelligence and confidence, and letting that shine through.”
When looking at the pictures, it’s difficult to believe that the model in the photos is 61-years-old.
Rossi shows that you don’t have to be young to be a swimsuit model.
Believe it or not, Yazemeenah Rossi is 61-years-old.
She was born in France in 1955 and grew up on the island of Corsica.
She is a model, artist and self-portrait photographer based in Malibu, California.
The images are part of a campaign with The Dreslyn and lingerie house Land of Woman.
Dreslyn’s founder said that the motive behind the collection was to find alternative way to advertize swimwear – one that strays away from the typically highly sexualized nature of most.
On why Rossi was chosen, founder of online specialty shop The Dreslyn said: “This is a woman who radiates health and vitality. She’s confident, she’s a visual artist, she takes care of herself.”
The secret to her beauty? “There is no secret,” Rossi says. “The only thing I’ve done is eat organic food, long before it became fashionable.”
Rossi added: “I use oil on my skin. I use canola oil in my hair. Once a week, I scrub my skin with olive oil and sugar, eat an avocado a day and only eat organic meat and fish.”
A very nice and courageous initiative by companies who dare to stand out. Aren’t these images of Rossi stunning?
