Yhi the baby wombat sure loves to help.
In this adorable video from Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary, Yhi doesn’t even wait for her friend Stella to ask for assistance. When she sees the pooch scratching an itch, she jumps right in and joins the effort. And while Stella doesn’t exactly need Yhi’s help, the friendly dog still seems to appreciate the wombat’s attitude. In fact, she even rewards Yhi with playful kisses.
It may seem surprising that Stella and Yhi get along so well, but it’s no accident. Stella and the other dogs at the sanctuary are raised to care for the wombats and keep them safe. And as the video shows, Stella is doing a wonderful job.

Wombat joey Yhi assisting Stella with her grooming …..sort of (watch when Yhi gets her tongue:)). Remember, Stella guards the wombats, that is what she is bred to do so she is with them from a very young age, protecting and looking after them.
