Animal rescuers “reduced to tears” after finding 30 neglected dogs “covered in feces”

Animal rescuers were left in tears after discovering more than 30 neglected dogs in a kennel.

Staff from the UK’s largest animal welfare organization, the RSPCA, said the dogs were found in such a state they couldn’t tell what breed some of them were.

They were filthy, living in cramped conditions and covered in feces, when they were found in kennels outside a property near Skegness, England, after a tip off from the public.

Ella Carpenter, manager at RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Center, said: “Clearly the dogs had been neglected for a significant amount of time and required their coats to be completely shaved and urgent dentals to be carried out. They were unrecognizable as to their breeds.

“One dog was in such a state she had pus leaking from her mouth. It was so upsetting to see it reduced rescue staff to tears.”

Staff, who said the dog breeds included Dachshunds, Yorkshire Terriers, Toy Poodles, and German Shepherd types, set to work to remove their overgrown and matted fur.

“They are now able to move freely without experiencing the pain of those heavy matts, glued together with excrement, pulling and tearing at their skin,” she added.

The owner agreed to sign the animals over to the RSPCA.

“We will continue to regularly bathe them to help improve their skin condition and we will spend the coming weeks rehabilitating them and will give them lots of care and attention so when we are ready to re-home the dogs we can match them with a perfect future owner,” added Ella.

I can’t imagine how or why these beautiful dogs would be in such a terrible condition, having to spend their lives locked up, it’s heartbreaking.

I dread to think what would have happened to these sweet creatures if that one person hadn’t tipped off the RSPCA.

It’s always important to speak up where animal abuse is concerned and be the voice they don’t have. Please share.
