Couple’s Intimate Encounter With Playful Whales Captivates Millions.

Emmy-Rose Curtis and Brad Nicholls are both animal lovers who spend their days observing and researching whales in their natural environment. So for them, there’s nothing special about seeing a whale. But this meeting, which took place in Queensland, Australia, was something else entirely.

The Australian couple were out on a boat when they jumped into the water to test a new underwater camera. Once in the water, they noticed the presence of something much larger than a turtle.

“In 10 years, I have never seen this type of behavior for whales with a boat, let alone with us in the water,” Curtis told ABC 7 News.

Curtis was referring to the fact that the whales weren’t the least bit afraid—they just wanted to play a little bit. And while the couple was initially surprised, they were never afraid.

“Their movements were so gentle and so slow, almost like they were like ‘Oh, I don’t want to hurt my new friends.’ My heart was so full of love at that moment,” Curtis told ABC 7 News.
