Losing a pet can be heartbreaking. Suddenly, your constant companion, best friend, and family member is gone.
Car owner Scott Ewels felt a deep sense of loss when his beloved cat Bear died after being hit by a vehicle.
But in the midst of all of the sorrow, he got a mysterious letter from a stranger. And what it said moved him to tears.
A few year ago, Scott Ewels lost his beloved cat Bear, who was hit in an accident.
Bear and his sibling Teddy loved to go on adventures in the neighborhood. Together, they would be away from home for several hours at a time.
But Scott had no idea that the two cats had met a new friend while on their adventures.
One day after Bear had died, Teddy returned home through his cat door. And then Scott discovered something stuck to Teddy’s collar.
It was a letter. It said:
“Dear Owner: I’m your neighbor, living in 4. I’m also your cats’ close friends as they (2 cats) are used to coming to my room every day. But one of them, a bigger one has disappeared for two weeks. Is he OK? I’m so worried about him. He is so lovely cat and always touched my heart. Wish he is fine.”
When Scott read the letter, he couldn’t hold back the tears.
“I wrote a note back to number 4, and posted it straight away, even as it was late in the evening. I mentioned that Bear had passed away, and was so glad that he had brought joy to their lives too. I included my email address, and she has since emailed us with pictures of Bear (and Teddy) in her house, and stories of their adventures with her,” Scott told The Dodo.
It’s always sad when a pet dies. But for Scott, knowing that his cat Bear was loved by not just one, but two whole families gave him extra comfort.
Scott and the woman are still in touch.
“She is now coming over tomorrow to visit Bear’s grave,” Scott told The Dodo.
It’s so nice that Bear could brighten the lives of not one, but two families 🙂 Please share!
