Romeo called ‘too ugly’ to be loved. But look at him, he’s so cute!

When I was little, I was always told that “beauty is on the inside.” But, as an adult, I can clearly see that we humans often attach great importance to superficial things.

But unlike us, pets don’t care how their owners look. Cats love them whether they’re ugly, pretty or handsome — as long as they get some love and respect.

Unfortunately, a cat named Romeo didn’t get the same treatment from the people he put his trust in.

This is Romeo. He’s an orange cat with a lovely coat of fur and soft paws. Just like any cat. But his face does look a little different.

Romeo was born deformed and was left for dead for being “too ugly.” He ended up on the street, and people often looked at him with disgust when they saw his face.

At first, it seemed like Romeo would stay homeless forever or even be killed. But luckily, this story has a happy ending.

Rescued by heroes

The Spanish animal rescue non-profit Santuario Compasión Animal heard about Romeo and couldn’t let him live on the street any longer. The whole team thought he was perfect just the way he was — and they adopted him.

“We were told nobody wanted him because he is ugly. But to us, Romeo isn’t ugly. He’s a little lovable kitten who loves to play like the rest of the cats. And his differences make him special,” the organization says.

Esta tarde estábamos como locos buscando a Romeo por todo el Santuario porque no lo encontrábamos por ningún lado. Y…

Romeo was taken in with the organization’s other animals, and today his friends include other cats, as well as cows, ducks, and turkeys.

But the story doesn’t end there… When Romeo got his new home, the media picked up his story. Suddenly, Romeo became famous and thousands of people were singing his praises online. Soon, everyone knew what a wonderful cat he is and a lot of people wanted to adopt him.

Because of that, Romeo found a new home. And today, he lives happily on the Santuario Compasión Animal’s farm, where he lives a happy life.

Make sure to check out this video about Romeo. Isn’t he wonderful?

Romeo has an important lesson to teach us: that appearance doesn’t matter. The important thing is how we treat each other.
