Tammy Slaton has been attempting to lose weight on television for the last few years as she stars on the show 1000-lb Sisters with her sister, Amy Slaton.

The show started in 2020, and since then, the reality TV star has lost almost 500 lbs (226 kgs). The show details her journey as she tries to opt for a more healthy lifestyle.

Earlier this year, Tammy underwent an eight-hour surgery. The results of the surgery left her and everyone around her stunned. When she saw the results of the surgery, the first words out of her mouth were just, “Boy…”

The momentous moment showed two people cutting away Tammy’s bandages as she put on her glasses and looked into the mirror in front of her.

Her sister, Misty, and brother, Chris Coombs, stood next to her as the bandages came off and revealed a new, leader chin for Tammy.

“Honestly, I’m hoping Tammy sees a new person in that mirror,” Coombs told said.

“She’s put all this work in to lose all this d*mn weight, so it’s time for her to feel good, too, about herself.”

Tammy shared how her new look had shocked her and felt “weird.”

“I don’t have my hanging ballsack off my face. My bat wings are gone, too,” she said, as she referred to the excess skin she had left after her four-year-long weight loss journey.

“And I look down, and there’s nothing there but my lap now,” she said, adding, “It’s going to take a little while for me to get used to seeing myself like this.”

She had expressed her nervousness about the surgery beforehand, saying, “I was really nervous for the skin removal surgery because I was really just kind of afraid of how I’m gonna feel looking at myself without the belly there.”

Tammy began her journey at 725 pounds and has since lost 500 pounds. She is happy to show off her progress on her Instagram account.

During her surgery, doctors removed almost 15 lbs of skin. She responded positively to the surgery and was soon discharged from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

“I surprised the doctors with how well my body was healing. I ended up coming home from Pittsburgh, like, four days early,” She said in a subsequent interview.
