It makes sense to assume that Kevin Costner is going to turn heads whenever he goes anywhere. He’s one of the biggest actors of the last few decades, after all, and has garnered a significant fanbase thanks to his catalog of successful film projects.
Last year the Yellowstone star found his name a staple of newspaper headlines due to his bitter divorce from longtime partner Christine Baumgartner. At 69, it likely wasn’t the way he had envisaged spending his 2023, but life often has a habit of throwing the unexpected in our way.
In any case, time moves on and his marital woes don’t occupy nearly as many column inches in the celebrity gossip magazines anymore. But that’s not to say he’s out of the limelight entirely, no, it’s just that people these days have different things to talk about…
Take, for example, his orange hair.
Yes, you did read that right. Costner made an appearance earlier this week at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, arriving in style to the event via boat.
Donning dark sunglasses, a light beige linen shirt, matching pants, and cream-colored jacket, the actor looked equal parts relaxed and smart. A video of Costner’s introduction to this year’s film festival in Italy showed his boat arriving, before cutting first to the star strolling on the pavement, and then to waving at a crowd from the boardwalk.
“Hello, Venice! It’s almost time to premiere @horizonamericansaga Chapter 2 at #VeniceFilmFestival,” the actor wrote on the video he uploaded to Instagram.
And while the general buzz and excitement should well be about the fact that the second installment of Costner’s western epic Horizon: An American Saga is premiering, people just couldn’t help but weigh-in on the Dances With Wolves icon’s hair.
Many appeared of the opinion that Costner had dyed his hair orange for the film festival, expressing no small amount of surprise.
“I feel like I don’t remember his hair being that color,” one wrote.
“He’s a ginger?” another quizzed.
A third wrote: “His hair looks ridiculous. He would be much more handsome with grey hair!”
“Stop [dyeing] the hair!” a fourth urged.
“He’s hot even with orange hair lol,” said another.
A sixth swooned: “The older he gets, the better he gets 🙌🙌❤️.”
Naturally there’s been all manner of speculation hit the press regarding Costner’s love life since his divorce from Christine Baumgartner last year, but the actor moved recently to deny a specific rumor insisting that he was romantically engaged with singer Jewel.
Sitting down with Howard Stern, the 69-year-old clarified a few matters relating to his personal life.
“No, Jewel and I are friends. We’ve never gone out ever. She’s special, and I don’t want, I don’t want these rumors to ruin our friendship because that’s what we have. She’s special to me. She’s beautiful enough to go out with,” Kevin said.
Netizens, according to reports, weren’t entirely convinced.
